Textile Art: Party Dress with Bolt Cutters

Share:

This work along with two others was made for a show in Copenhagen for Galleri Oxholm.  It was created in collaboration with my longtime friend and mentor, Kelly Reemtsen. Kelly is best known for her bold paintings of women in vintage dresses wielding chainsaws, axes, and other powerful tools. Clothing plays a central role in both of our practices, so a collaboration felt inevitable.

For this project, Kelly created a series of paintings, and I responded with sculptural stacks made from second-hand clothing.

This project was an exploration of how different materials, techniques, and perspectives can come together to create something entirely new.

Sculpture Dimensions (not including base)
14” x 8” x 8”

Materials
The sculpture is made from second-hand clothing with a metal armature. The wood base is red oak, poplar and fir. The case is acrylic.
