Clothing Sculpture, The Witness

Clothing Sculpture, The Witness, L configuration

Clothing Sculpture, The Witness. The clothing for this piece was donated by the local community during the pandemic and is a tribute to the people of NYC. This work was built to be lightweight, sturdy, and flexible in design. It can be displayed in a multitude of arrangements. I created this configuration by placing all 16 units back-to-back and lining them up in an “L” shape. To create each unit, I built a wooden frame and filled it with carefully folded clothing, transitioning from dark to light. This configuration is free-standing and is meant to be viewed in the round. The Witness was created with support from NYFA & The Queens Council on the Arts.
