Art Furniture: Tandem Repeat, 2023

Share:

This is one of three clothing sculptures. Together, they form the base of an enormous glass toped table. The color scheme was inspired by California’s legendary sunsets, but through the lens of memory, fantasy and photo manipulation. It bears a relationship to a piece from 2016 called Night Sky

Tandem Repeat, 2023. Art Furniture made from white pine and second-hand clothing.

They now reside at Circular Library, a new clothing store in Los Angeles grappling with sustainability. Learn more about that here in my blog

Table made out of layers of used clothing, arranged in a gradient from maroon red, orange, yellow, sky blue, to navy blue. Clothing transformation into a functional soft abstract sculpture with sustainability in mind as core value to push against mindless consumer culture and waste. The table is a column shape. Made by Derick Melander.
